Pedal 4 Drowning Prevention

Hey, my name is John Carey and I have been lifeguarding and instructing since 2009.  Over the years, I have worked at 4 pools and 2 beaches. Through this experience, I was able to appreciate how lucky I was to grow up on Lake Simcoe and have access to all the water activities I could handle.  I have worked with the Guelph SHARK program (Safe Healthy Active Recreation for Kids) for the last three years teaching grade 3's and 5's the Lifesaving Society's Swim to Survive Standard.  As Guelph has one of the largest programs in Southwestern Ontario, and one of the few to host grade 5's, as well as grade 3's we were able to see what a positive impact the program has on a community.  With my extensive camping experience and Derek's limitless bike knowledge this is going to be a bike trip for the records.
